Exploring sculptural ways of expression

All levels welcome

Sculptural wet felting workshop, exploring the possibilities of high quality felt and how to shape it artistically and expressive.

The peanut guy felt sculptures are based on a very easy template - the peanut :). The originality and beauty lies in the artful manipulation of the surface. This is only possible when the making of high quality is mastered. In this workshop I show you how to make a seamless hollow form in high quality sculptural felt and how to shape it in function of your wishes of expression.

The evening classes start at 5h30 PM in Paris Check the time in your location with this handy time converter.

Class in 2 session

The class is split in two parts with a one week break, to give you time to assimilate the learnt techniques.

Session 1

Felting of a peanut guy live
During the ~2h session I will give you technical and artistique advises while creating a peanut guy with you. A small sized group of maxi 7 stundets, allows my classes to be moments of exchange and conviviality. We are coming together to inspired and learn from each other!

Solidification of the learnt techniques.
You have a week to complete your peanut guy, explore the sculptural surface and find possibilities of expression. Those who like and have time, are welcome to make several peanut guys with different expressions.

Show and tell
In our second meeting each students present her work and gives insight in her experience. We will discuss what makes a sculpture interesting and the “mistakes” to avoid as well as the happy mistakes which pushed our skills further. By the end I share ideas how to “embellish” the felted surface through collage and painting techniques.

Technical skills and creativity
Those who have taken classes with me know how much attention I pay to allow you to grow as a maker / artist! For me feltmaking is not just about technical skills, it’s about revealing our inner artist and express our uniqueness.
I aim to reinforce your trust in your original creativity. There is no “right” nor “wrong”, just endless possibilities to choose from - each solution echoes differently in each of us. The decisions and solution we take are purely individual and assures the authenticity of the artwork!

Benefits for our mind and soul
Making art is finding your way in self expression! It can boost your self confidence and not only in an artistique way! Making art, expressing ourselves is learning about ourselves and the world we ae living in!

How this class is organized

The lessons are hold live online in my private Zoom classroom. All lessons will be recorded* and are accessible to the participants for at least 1 year on a private website. The recording allows you to review the class as many times as wished.

*Important: by signing in to this class you agree to be recorded! if you don’t agree, please contact me beforehand!

Why direct teaching instead of a recording only?

My teaching is similar to my creating: organic and process driven. I love the interactivity of sharing knowledge. There is a giving and taking and therefor it’s essential to me to feel the presence of the persons I teach. Your work made during the class, your questions & suggestions are part of the process!

For the best experience, I keep the classes small. Only up to 7 persons are accepted in the sculptural peanut guy class!

As in my art, not two classes are the same. You get a unique experience!

The most valuable argument for me for live online classes: Until now 99.5% of my online students finished their art work.

May be it’s different for you but personally, when I buy a recorded lesson, I nearly never finish the project. Not because I’m not inspired or I don’t want to, but because as I have free access to the teaching when ever I wish and for the years to come!
Being a busy person, l start the lesson and then I get absorbed in daily routine, push the task along until I forget about it!
It may seem constraining to have to attempt a class on a certain time, but if you compare it to a “face to face” event, it’s pretty less time consuming! You don’t have to travel and can organize the “exercise time” in function of your needs and possibilities.

Live online teaching = a (perfect ;)) mix of a “face-to-face” and recorded workshop.

I have always been a frustrated in 3 or 4 days event of not being able to follow students for a longer laps of time! In the online teahcing I joyfully embrasse this awesome chance!

A peanut guy sculpture from all around.
