Making of a Felt Hat
This video shows how felt is made and how the felted Material is sculptured to form a unique headpiece
Loosen wool fiber are layed out around a plastic template. Once wetted with hot water they are rolled in a bubble wrap and rubbed for around 45 minutes. This manual action allows to transform fibers into felt. Once the wool shrank around 45% a whole is cut into the felt work to remove the template. The resulting hollow form is stretched on a hat block and worked in a sculptural way to create the one of a kind felt headpiece.
